Discover the Gaves Valley on a rafting trip in Argelès-Gazost along the highest navigable stretch of the Gave de Pau. Starting from Villelongue, this Pyrenean river offers an unspoilt natural setting dominated by the Pibeste massif and the Pic du Viscos, set amidst a landscape shaped by the elements. As you float past the Donjon des Aigles and the Notre-Dame de Piétat chapel, you’ll find yourself in the heart of an exceptional mountain environment where white water meets local history.
Wearing a 3 mm Seland neoprene wetsuit and an NRS lifejacket, you’ll take your place on board an NRS raft led by a qualified instructor. As you navigate the rapids of the Gave de Pau, you’ll spot the local wildlife along the banks, such as cormorants, grey herons, mallards and, occasionally, kingfishers or traces of otters. On arrival at the end of the route, the adventure takes on a whole new dimension: the return journey to base is aboard the Cyclospace, a futuristic pedal-powered, electric and solar-powered micro-public transport vehicle developed by Stilic Force as part of the ADEME Extreme Challenge.
Designed to ensure maximum enjoyment, this trip takes place in very small groups, with just one boat per departure and a maximum of seven passengers. The experience is suitable for anyone aged 4 and over who can swim, and requires only a moderate level of fitness. At the eco-centre, you’ll have access to changing rooms equipped with hot showers so you can rinse off in comfort, whilst waterproof bags are provided during the trip to keep your belongings dry.
Available from mid-February to the end of October, this adventure combines the thrills of the water with innovative, sustainable transport in the Pyrenees. Book your rafting trip in Argelès-Gazost now and enjoy a unique, eco-friendly experience in the Hautes-Pyrénées!
