Rafting in Argelès-Gazost is a journey through contrasts. As you push off from the riverbank, the gentle current lulls you into the rhythm of the water, only to be replaced moments later by the roar of rapids echoing between steep gorges. Typical routes on the Gave de Pau range from accessible family-friendly sections to more challenging stretches with technical drops and swirling eddies. Trips often last between one and two hours, covering several kilometres of ever-changing terrain. The river’s cool spray, the textured grip of the paddle, and the rush of navigating foaming waves create a vivid sensory experience. Between bursts of action, quieter stretches allow you to absorb the landscape: the call of birds overhead, the play of sunlight on the water, and the dramatic silhouette of the Hautacam massif in the distance.

My family and I had a great experience with Tom Rafting. We booked our half-day excursion the night before and received a confirmation within two hours. Tom was a great rafting guide (spoke English, Spanish and French). He pointed out landmarks, various wildlife and had insight on each mountain range. His instructions on rafting were very easy to follow... my 64 year old Aunt had the time of her life. I would highly recommend Tom Rafting for anyone visiting the area.
Very watery and fun, lots of paddling involved.
