Descent of the Freyte canyon near Tarascon-sur-Ariège

Dive into a refreshing adventure with this family canyoning in the Freyte canyon, located near Foix in Ariège, in the heart of a green and unspoilt environment. Ideal for an introduction to canyoning with children aged 8 and over, this accessible course follows a small river nestling at the bottom of the Courbière valley, in a peaceful atmosphere of moss, rocks and ferns, reminiscent of the forests of Canada.

After a warm welcome at our canyoning base in Foix, with coffee and amenities, you'll meet your instructor, who will give you full equipment (Adidas shoes, wetsuit, harness, helmet, descender). An introduction to canyoning techniques and a safety briefing will be given before you head off to the start of the activity, with transport provided from our centre.

The Freyte canyon is the perfect place for a first experience of canyoning in the Ariège: a short, child-friendly approach walk takes you down to the water's edge for a fun descent. On the programme: small natural slides, abseils over pretty waterfalls (up to 14 m), a zip line in the middle of nature, swimming in crystal-clear pools, and jumps for the more daring (not compulsory).

After a short walk back, you'll return to the base for a moment of chat and relaxation with your instructor over a drink (beer or dry beverage). And to make the experience even longer, we'll give you free photos of your canyoning trip in the Freyte canyon.

An active, family-friendly half-day to discover canyoning near Foix, in complete safety with the Ici et Ailleurs team. Remember to bring a swimming costume, towel and change of clothes.
