Discover the Vicdessos valley from the heights while enjoying the 2 via ferrata of Vicdessos with your family or friends!
The via ferrata of Vicdessos in Ariège are 2 routes combining hiking and rock climbing along a metal cable above the Vicdessos valley, a splendid spot in the heart of the Ariège Pyrénées in the south of France. With over 700 meters of vertical drop and more than 1,300 meters of roped route secured by a continuous lifeline, the via ferrata of the Vicdessos will give you the chance to work out on your own in a magnificent setting, in complete safety! Once you've received your equipment and been briefed on the activity, you can choose between 2 different via ferrata routes:
The "Arête Sud" - Accessible from the age of 7, this route is ideal for those who want to discover the via ferrata of Vicdessos at their own pace and learn the techniques of climbing the highest peaks in the valley;
The "Face Nord" - Accessible from age 12, this route is a little more vertiginous and offers a variety of obstacles, including a large footbridge, Tibetan and Nepalese bridges, as well as beams that will give you some great sensations, all while admiring the village of Val-de-Sos and the valley below you.
The instructors will be delighted to help you choose the route that suits you best, so you can make the most of your via ferrata activity in Vicdessos! Less than an hour and a half's drive from Toulouse and 40 minutes from Foix, the via ferrata of Vicdessos in the heart of the Ariège region is waiting to give you a great time in a sublime setting!
Access to the Vicdessos via ferrata (2 routes): you must choose between the Arête Sud route (accessible from age 7) and the Face Nord route (accessible from age 12)
Course of events
- Welcome at the meeting point (in low season, the Montcalm adventure park / in high season, in the center of the village of Val-de-Sos)
- Distribution of equipment and briefing on the activity (30 minutes)
- Drive in your own vehicle to the via ferrata starting point
- Start of the adventure on the route of your choice (or that recommended to you depending on your level) for 2 to 4 hours
- 45 minutes return walk to your vehicle
- End of activity and return of equipment
Activity requirements
Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the activity.
Minors under the age of 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
People with vertigo are not advised to participate in this activity.

This activity is weather-dependent. If the weather does not allow for the activity to take place, we will contact you to reschedule or receive a full refund.
⚠️ During the high season (July-August) the meeting point is next to the restaurant le P'tit Marche, 4 Rue Grande Rue, 09220 Val-de-Sos: don't hesitate to call the instructor to confirm the meeting point.
