Perfect for beginners, this glacier hike on Sólheimajökull offers a 1-hour walk on the glacier with a professional guide.

Course of events
Please allow a total of 2.5 hours on site.
- Meet your instructor 20 minutes before departure
- Briefing on the tour, safety instructions and use of the equipment
- Short hike to the glacier
- Glacier hike on the Sólheimajökull glacier (about 1 hour's walk on the ice with a few breaks)
- Return to starting point, de-equipping, debriefing and end of activity
Activity requirements
Please arrive 20 minutes before departure time.
Hiking boots must be worn: it will not be possible to add the crampons required for the activity to other footwear.
It is very important to wear warm clothing, preferably waterproof, so that you can enjoy the excursion to the full.
Special terms
The minimum size available is 34 European (2.5 American).
Participation during pregnancy is at the discretion of the guide on the day of the excursion, depending on real-time conditions.

The Sólheimajökull glacier is one of Iceland's best-known glacier hiking sites, with a landscape that changes with the seasons. With its ice varying in colour from white to blue, as well as its peculiar formations (crevasses, water cauldrons, ephemeral caves, etc.), there's no shortage of natural curiosities to discover on your excursion to this glacial tongue of Mýrdalsjökull!
Following a local guide who will take you to the less-explored areas of the glacier, you'll walk for around 1 hour on the ice, equipped with all the necessary gear: helmet, harness, crampons and ice axes.
