Rising 556 meters above the turquoise waters of the Indian Ocean in southwestern Mauritius, Le Morne Brabant is a majestic mountain classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site. This natural sanctuary shelters lush exotic vegetation as well as several rare endemic plant species belonging to Mauritian heritage. The ascent offers breathtaking views over the surrounding lagoons and the island's terrain. The Mare aux Songes site, located in this same southwestern region, is the exact spot where the first dodo remains were discovered in Mauritius.
Accompanied by a professional guide from the Intimate Hikes Mauritius team, you will set off on a 6-kilometer loop designed to adapt to everyone's pace. The route climbs the mountain slopes, alternating steady ascents with educational stops dedicated to observing local flora and learning about the site's history. One of the highlights of the itinerary is the technical rock scramble: a 69-meter rocky section to navigate using hands and feet safely. Reaching approximately 490 meters above sea level—the highest point reached during the hike—you will enjoy a stunning viewpoint while enjoying a complimentary snack.
Designed to guarantee a personalized, friendly, and serene experience, the outing is strictly limited to 6 participants per guide. This is the ideal format for couples, families, or groups of friends who wish to explore in a small group. Children are welcome from the age of 7, and the guide ensures the pace is adjusted to allow both beginners and moderately fit hikers to reach the highest point of the route with full confidence. Safety equipment is checked before setting off to ensure optimal progression.
Sunrise departures begin beneath the stars and unfold through the
soft colours of dawn, while afternoon departures offer brighter, more
vibrant colours as the landscape gradually shifts into dusk. Book your hike on Le Morne Brabant in Mauritius today and get ready to explore one of the most iconic peaks in the Indian Ocean!
