With its wild and unspoilt nature, away from the more touristy areas such as Le Morne and Blue Bay, the area around Souillac is not to be missed in the south of Mauritius. Between lush jungle, impressive cliffs and tranquil beaches, this part of the Mauritian coastline is ideal for nature lovers who want to venture off the beaten track. And for an experience that combines the beauty of the local landscapes with tranquillity, and even more so alongside animals, there is nothing better than a horseback ride along Riambel Beach! Just a 10-minute drive from the centre of Souillac, this activity is suitable for beginners and experienced riders alike, and will appeal to young and old alike, even if you have never been horseback riding before.
Supervised by a team of experienced and passionate instructors, you will have the pleasure of setting off on a 1-hour horseback ride along Riambel Beach, a 2.5 km stretch of white sand bordering a small turquoise lagoon. You will be captivated not only by the beauty of the place, but also by its tranquillity, a far cry from the island's other, better-known beaches lined with hotels. What's more, the outing will be adapted to your level of riding ability (horses at a walk held in a tether for beginners, trotting and/or cantering possible for more experienced riders, at the instructor's discretion), so you can be sure of some unforgettable moments in complete safety in a small group of no more than 7 riders.
You will be lucky enough to have a retired racehorse (English Thoroughbred) as your partner on this horseback ride at Riambel, or a pony for younger riders from the age of 3, which will be allocated to you according to your level. You will have time to get to know him before the ride, and then spend a few more moments with him back at the centre to unharness and groom him. Your experience will be all the better for it, as contact with the animal is an important part of the activity!
So if you fancy going for a horseback ride in Mauritius, don't hesitate to choose the Riambel riding centre for a truly extraordinary adventure, combining enchanting surroundings with a connection to horses with touching stories!
