You’ll meet the experienced guide and be transported by car to Saltstraumen on a 30 km (19 mi) scenic drive through Northern Norway roads. Upon arrival at the starting point in Saltstraumen, you’ll receive the equipment, including an electric bike, a helmet, gloves, and a backpack containing a bottle of water. After a quick safety briefing, the 2-hour bike tour begins!

Saltstraumen is a narrow strait and is renowned for having one of the strongest tidal currents in the world. The currents in Saltstraumen reach speeds of up to 20 knots (about 37 kilometres or 23 miles per hour), creating whirlpools, eddies, and turbulent waters. From Saltstraumen, you’ll cycle along a relatively flat route at Straumøya Island. As you ride, you’ll experience the natural beauty of Norway’s coastal wilderness. 

The population of moose in this area is high, so you have a good chance of having a close encounter with this majestic creature! The guide will share facts about any of the flora and fauna that you spot on the trip. Along the way, you'll stop to enjoy snacks and a hot coffee. If the tide allows, you’ll also witness the forces of the maelstrom whirlpool caused by the strong currents. After the bike ride, the guide will drive you back to the starting point in Bodø.
