Svalbard is a remote Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean, situated between mainland Norway and the North Pole. It consists of several islands, the largest being Spitsbergen. This trip departs from Longyearbyen, the largest settlement in Svalbard, sitting on the western coast of Spitsbergen. This 8-hour boat trip from Longyearbyen will take you down the fjords of Svalbard on a tour of some of the archipelago's most sought-after wildlife, geological features, and cultural hubs.

The adventure starts with pick-up from your listed accommodation in Longyearbyen (please specify your location when booking). You'll be driven to the departure point and board the comfortable Stormforce Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). Safety equipment, including floating suits, life vests, shoes and goggles will be provided. The certified guide will welcome you and go through a quick safety briefing. Then, the RIB tour to Nordenskiöld Glacier begins! You'll start sailing along the magnificent Isfjord. Along the way, you'll be treated to mesmerising views of raw Arctic nature.

Upon arrival at Billefjorden, a branch of the larger Isfjorden, you'll stop and disembark the boat onto land. Here, you'll have the unique opportunity to discover the stunning nature up close. Afterwards, the boat trip to Nordenskiöld Glacier in Billefjorden continues! Nordenskiöld is one of Svalbard’s most striking tidewater glaciers, located on Spitsbergen’s eastern coast near the abandoned Soviet mining town of Pyramiden.

In the summer months, this area is rich with bustling wildlife, especially bird species. At Nordenskiöld, you may spot birds such as king eiders, arctic guillemots, puffins, various gulls, and little auks gathered on steep cliffs around Diabasodden. Seals, whales, and walruses also frequent this area, so keep your eyes peeled! You'll sail by the sheltered bay of Skansebukta, as well as the mining town of Pyramiden. A delicious lunch, hot drinks and snacks will be served, while you enjoy incredible views of the glacier and its towering ice walls and deep blue ice formations. Afterwards, you'll sail back to the starting point in Longyearbyen.

Experience one of Svalbard's most iconic natural landmarks on this summer fjord and bird watching RIB tour to Nordenskiöld Glacier from Longyearbyen!

The router was arranged so good. The schedule ran smoothly. The guide lady explain every detail of the village history and explained why the glaciers collapse. We saw the collapse of the glaciers.
