Enjoy an exciting kayak trip on the northern side of the Isfjord in Svalbard, and paddle along magnificent fronts and icebergs!

During this exciting kayak trip on the northern Isfjord in Svalbard, you will paddle along magnificent fronts and icebergs. No matter if you are completely new to kayaking or if you have already some experience. Your professional guides on this tour will safely lead you through this extraordinary adventure.

Get a completely new perspective of the unique Arctic ecosystem while you are paddling through the water in sturdy tandem kayaks, surrounded only by icebergs and the breathtaking Sveabreen above you.

You will be picked up from your hotel and brought to the Guide's headquarters first. Here your guides will provide you with all the necessary gear and clothing for this day trip, including a dry suit, a spray hood, suitable shoes, paddle gloves and a life jacket. They will also lend you some dry bags in which to store your personal items during the excursion. All you will need to bring yourself are two warm base layers to wear underneath your dry suit, some warm socks, and a hat.

Once you are ready, you will take a RIB boat to the North side of the Isfjord. These speed boats are comfortable and equipped with a warm cabin, where you can leave any belongings during the kayaking. The drive to the North coast takes roughly one hour, during which your experienced guide will give you detailed instructions about the gear and how to use the kayaks safely. You will start at the bay in front of the Sveaglacier and paddle between the large icebergs. Your guide will safely navigate you through the bay.

Now it's time to enjoy the stunning views of the Glacier terminus, the toe of the glacier which reaches far into the sea. Despite the harsh climate conditions, nature and wildlife are absolutely beautiful around here. You will find delicate vegetation and birds all over the place. If you are lucky you may see sea-mammals and other animals on the ice sheets. You may even get to witness the glacier calving – shedding ice into the water, forming new icebergs on the way for us to explore and navigate.

You will spend a few hours paddling in the bay before you head back to the boat. Here, a refreshing and energizing homemade soup will be waiting for you before you drive back to Longyearbyen.
