Venture into the Arctic night on a 6-hour Northern Lights chase in Tromsø, where the dark polar skies above the Lyngen Alps and surrounding fjords create a dramatic backdrop for the Aurora Borealis. Leaving the city lights behind, you travel through snow-covered valleys and coastal passes in search of clear skies. Tromsø sits directly beneath the Northern Lights Oval, making this coastal Norwegian hub one of the premier locations on Earth for geomagnetic activity. Guided by experienced Aurora hunters monitoring real-time cloud coverage and satellite weather data, your route adapts dynamically each evening, leading you toward the best atmospheric windows across northern Norway or even over the Finnish border.
Your journey begins at the central base before boarding a modern, heated coach equipped with onboard toilet facilities for maximum comfort throughout the night. As your expert Spanish-speaking guide shares captivating stories of Arctic folklore and the science behind solar storms, you navigate toward secluded observation spots far from light pollution. Once settled at a scenic Arctic camp, you will gather around to enjoy hot chocolate, coffee, tea, and biscuits while staying cozy. Throughout the evening, your guide acts as a professional photographer, capturing high-resolution portraits of you framed beneath the dancing ribbons of the Aurora.
This Northern Lights excursion in Tromsø is accessible to adults and children aged 5 and above. Guests travel in comfort with sturdy camp chairs provided at observation stops, allowing everyone to relax while scanning the horizon. Upon request, each participant receives an Official Northern Lights Safari Certificate to commemorate their Arctic expedition.
