Kiruna is a city located in the north of Sweden, in the beautiful Lapland region. It is situated just north of the Arctic Circle, offering typical Arctic conditions in the winter including snowy and frozen landscapes. Dog sledding in Kiruna is the perfect activity for discovering remote trails in the wilderness!

The trip begins with pick-up from your accommodation within a 20km radius, or you can make your own way to the base in Kiruna (please specify when booking). An experienced guide will first introduce you to the dogs so you can get to know them and take fun pictures. Next, you will receive a safety briefing and set up the sled. 2-4 people will sit on each sled and be pulled by a dog team driven by the guide.

You will set off on your dog sledding excursion in Kiruna through the crisp morning air. In the European wilderness, few things can be more awe-inspiring than a sled being pulled through the snow by 12 powerful Alaskan Huskies. In Kiruna’s beautiful winter wonderland, you will not only experience the magic of dog sledding but can also catch sight of some reindeer and moose roaming freely. The snow-covered forests and blue skies with capercaillie, Siberian jay, and ptarmigan birds roaming the skies are also a sight to see!

Halfway through the tour, you will stop at a wilderness cabin for a traditional Fika, with coffee, tea, and cookies. As you enjoy your snacks and take in the surroundings, your guide will share stories about the life of a husky musher and information about this breed. On the way back you will pass some spectacular frozen lakes and scenic surroundings. Back at the base, you will say goodbye to your furry friends and return to your pick-up point in Kiruna.

This morning dog sledding excursion from Kiruna is the perfect way to discover the crisp winter wilderness of Swedish Lapland!

It was a wonderful experience that you absolutely must try if you visit Sweden. You are warmly welcomed, and before starting the activity, the safety guidelines are clearly explained to ensure a safe ride. The journey took place in Sweden's stunning natural surroundings.. The only thing we missed was a proper cuddle moment with the dogs. We gave them some nice pets, but they were tied to the ropes at the time. It would have been much better if there was an opportunity to play with or pet them freely.

So cool! It was just me and the guide so I got to meet the dogs, learn about the process of training them, and meet some puppies too!

It was a beautiful moment, we saw a wonderful landscape pulled by friendly dogs. We had our time to pet them and also the stuff offered us some coffe with cinnamon rolls. We really recommend this experience!
