Experience the magic of the Arctic night on a thrilling 5-hour snowmobile excursion in Kiruna, complete with dinner and a chance to witness the breathtaking Northern Lights.
Snowmobiles are shared between two participants — one driver and one passenger — with opportunities to switch roles during the ride. You may also choose to book as a solo driver if you prefer to ride alone.
No previous snowmobile experience is required.
- Snowmobiles: 4-stroke, 600cc models with heated handlebar grips
- Distance of the excursion: 15–30 km
- Group size: Up to 8 drivers per guide
Course of events
- Please arrive at the meeting point in Kiruna at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time.
- 15-minute transfer to the snowmobile garage.
- 30-minute safety briefing and driving lesson.
- Receive your equipment and Arctic gear.
- 2-hour snowmobile excursion in the surroundings of Kiruna (the exact duration may vary depending on conditions and whether the Northern Lights are visible).
- Short breaks will be made to switch drivers.
- Stop to admire the Northern Lights (duration depends on weather and visibility conditions).
- 1-hour dinner break in a cozy wooden hut: enjoy Souvas (traditional reindeer stew), potatoes, and sponge cake with cloudberries.
- Drive back to the snowmobile garage to return helmets.
- Transfer back to Kiruna to return overalls and boots.
- Return to the meeting point is expected around 10:45–11:00 PM.
Activity requirements
Snowmobile drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a full, valid driver's license. Please bring the original copy with you on the day of the activity.
The minimum age for sitting as a passenger in a snowmobile is 12 years old.
Please arrive at the meeting point in Kiruna at least 30 minutes before the start time.
Special terms
Please be advised that as the Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, their presence can never be guaranteed.
Vegetarian/vegan/gluten-free options are available on request. Please list any dietary restrictions when booking.
For safety reasons, children under 12 years of age will sit in a sled pulled by the guide's snowmobile.
Should you prefer to sit in a sled driven by the guide, please choose the "Adult in sled" option.
Transfer from Camp Ripan, Icehotel, Aurora Camp, Malmfältens, Hotell e-10, Arctic Eden is available at an additional fee of 100 SEK. Please contact your instructor directly to arrange pick-up.

It was absolutely fantastic experience! The forecast was not giving us a huge chance to see aurora but our guide managed to show it to us for a few minutes! It was so fun to drive snowmobiles, the food which was prepared was delicious and the guide had a huge knowledge and knew the answer for all questions! I recommend the trip from the bottom of my heart!

Although the sky was too cloudy that night for us to see the northern lights, we had a superb time riding the snowmobiles. The guide brought us through the forest and to open areas such as frozen lakes, which allowed us to ride at a faster speed. He also cooked a yummy dinner for us in the woods. It was our first time trying reindeer stew! Overall a very great experience. Exceeded all my expectations.

We totally recommend this activity. Even if we didn't see the Northern light because of the clouds, we had an amazing time. Driving a snowmobile is super cool and the typical Sami/Swedish dinner was so delicious and cosy in a cabin in the middle of the forest.
