Nestled between the foothills of the Pyrenees and the rolling Atlantic, this historic fishing port offers a unique blend of natural beauty and vibrant local culture. The town’s maritime heritage is palpable, from the scent of salt in the air to the rhythm of fishing boats returning to harbour. Beyond the harbour, the coastline unfolds in dramatic contrasts: rugged cliffs, hidden coves, and the striking red and ochre hues of the Basque rocks. Typical routes might trace the shoreline towards Ciboure or Socoa, passing beneath the watchful gaze of the Fort de Socoa, or venture further towards the wild headlands near Hendaye. Depending on the tide and weather, the sea can shift from glassy tranquillity to invigorating swells, offering both peaceful glides and moments of challenge.

A faire absolument !
