Ioannina or Gianena as some Greek like to all it, is the capital city of the region of Epirus in Greece.
Located in the north-western part of Greece, Ioannina is a picturesque city with lots to offer to every kind of tourist. From the snow mountains around the city to the calmness of the lake in the middle, the city will leave you charmed!
The center of the city is very picturesque with buildings from the early 17th century, built under the Ottoman occupancy. The city has been the commercial centre of the area for many centuries, with the local fur makers being renowned for their craftsmanship. In the middle of the lake you will find the fortress of the city!
There are many activities to do around, even for the most demanding, from paragliding to trekking or hiking in the mountains! You can reach Ioannina from Athens (435 km) or from Thessaloniki (350 km) or from the port of Igoumenitsa!
