Activity description

Welcoming adventurers ages 4 and up, don't miss this family-friendly snowmobiling safari in Finland from Rovaniemi, the home of Santa Claus! 

One of the most famous attractions in Rovaniemi is the Santa Claus Village. This Christmas-themed park is located just north of the city and is known as the "Official Hometown of Santa Claus." Visitors can meet Santa Claus year-round, send postcards with an official Arctic Circle postmark, and enjoy the festive atmosphere. 

In the company of an experienced guide, you and your group (a maximum of 18 participants) will discover the magic of the Arctic Circle and its picturesque forests, located outside of the city of Rovaniemi. Please note that children aged 4-14 are pulled in a sledge behind the snowmobiles. In addition, the total time spent on a snowmobile is 40 minutes- 1 hour. 

Your Arctic adventure begins at one of the listed meeting points in Rovaniemi, you can choose between meeting at the departure point or being picked up at one of the listed locations. Upon arrival, you'll be greeted by your experienced guide who will provide a safety briefing along with an introduction to snowmobiling. With your thermal gear and helmet on, the fun starts! You'll set out into the beautiful winter landscape surrounding Santa's Village at a slower pace, admiring the stunning snow-capped forests of Finnish Lapland. Along the way, your guide will make stops so that you and your family can play in the snow and take photos.

In the second part of the snowmobiling tour, the children will drive mini snowmobiles in a safe and enclosed area, earning their very own 'mini snowmobile driving license'. Then, you'll be treated to delicious campfire snacks which include sausages and marshmallows, accompanied by warm berry juice. You'll head back to the original departure point in Rovaniemi and can choose between being dropped off or heading straight to Santa's Village.

All snowmobile drivers must be at least 18 years old and hold a valid driver's license (A1, T, A, or B category). Please ensure that the license is valid in Finland.

Participants under the influence of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed to take part in this activity.

In addition, all children (ages 4-14) are pulled in a sleigh behind the snowmobile. If children above 1,40 cm (4'5") wish to sit on the snowmobile, they must be booked as adults. All the snowmobiles are 2-seated and drivers can swap during the tour. 

Special terms

All of the snowmobiles are insured by traffic law for medical expenses. The snowmobile driver is held liable for any damages caused to the snowmobile. The liability damage cost has a flat rate of 900 € per person in case of an accident. For our shorter snowmobile tours (up to 3 hours duration) it is possible to purchase insurance from Wild Nordic for 15 € per person (as of winter 2023), which reduces the maximum liability to 150 € per person (all the information regarding the self liability will be given by the guide before starting the safari.

The pricing is as follows:

Driver Only: 1 single driver on the snowmobile. 

Adults: 1 adult on a 2-seated snowmobile.
