Activity description

Discover the magic of the Northern Lights while snowmobiling in the wilderness surrounding Rovaniemi on this unique 3-hour excursion! Welcoming beginners and children aged 4 and up.

Located in Northern Finland in the Lapland region, Rovaniemi is a premier destination for outdoor adventure enthusiasts and nature lovers. Known as the birthplace of Santa Claus and its stunning wilderness, the city is situated just a few kilometres south of the Arctic Circle, making it an ideal place to witness the incredible natural phenomenon of the Northern Lights. What better way to witness their vivid colours than on a fun-filled snowmobile safari?

Your adventure begins after meeting your experienced guide at one of the listed meeting/pick points in Rovaniemi. At the Wild Nordic Finland Safari Centre, you'll put on your snowmobiling gear including a thermal suit, wool socks, boots, a scarf, gloves, and a helmet, Then, you will receive a safety briefing in addition to an introduction to snowmobiling. Please note that all children aged 4-14 will be pulled in a sledge behind the guide's snowmobile.

Then, the adventure begins! You'll set off into the Lappish winter landscape, far away from the city lights in search of the best location to take in the Aurora Borealis. (*Since this is a natural phenomenon, their presence can never be guaranteed.) With only the headlights of your snowmobile and the moon illuminating your way, you'll experience a thrill like none other. Midway through the tour, you'll stop for a break around a campfire. You and your group (a maximum of 12 participants) will be treated to grilled snacks and a warm beverage while your guide shares fascinating stories and myths about the Northern Lights.
