Explore the Arctic wilderness while experiencing the thrill of driving your own dog sled team on this 10-km (6.2-mile) excursion in Saariselkä! Welcoming adventurers of all ages.
Located in Northern Finland (Finnish Lapland), Saariselkä's untouched Arctic wilderness makes it a popular destination for outdoor lovers and nature enthusiasts. During the winter months, dog sledding is a fun way to enjoy Finland's winter wonderland while experiencing an adrenaline rush like none other!
Your adventure begins at one of the listed meeting points in Saariselkä (please specify when booking). You and your group (a maximum capacity of 4 adults) will board the scenic transfer to the husky farm. Upon your arrival, you'll be greeted by your experienced guide/musher who will provide you with your winter gear, including thermal overalls, boots, wool socks, a hat, a scarf, and gloves. Next, you'll receive a safety briefing, followed by an introduction to dog sledding and dog sled driving techniques. (Please note that all drivers must be 18 years old and up.)
Then, the fun starts. You'll meet your adorable and energetic team of huskies and tour the kennel before setting off at high speeds into the snowy landscapes of Finnish Lapland. You'll traverse hills and forests, taking in the breathtaking panorama as you go. Midway through the tour, you will stop to give the huskies a break and switch drivers. After the tour's completion, you'll be treated to a warm beverage and learn more about these amazing creatures and the daily life on a husky farm. You'll return to the original departure point in Saariselkä, happy with a day well-spent!

Activity requirements
Please note that a minimum number of 2 participants (2 adults) is required in order to run this activity.
In addition, this excursion features 2-participants per husky team, one adult (18 years old and up) as a driver and one adult as a passenger. Midway through the tour, adults can change drivers. Children up to 12 years are always seated as passengers in the sleigh.
Special terms
Parents with small children: please consider if your child is able to sit in a sleigh for about 1 hour in winter conditions. Kindly note, there are no shortcuts from the forest back to the farm.
