About the activity

Between the months of September and April, the very north of the Northern Hemisphere of the planet is witness to a wonderful, awe-inspiring light show. The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, are a natural phenomenon that occurs when the Earth's atmosphere and the particles interact, resulting in colourful lights in the evening sky that often seem to be dancing. This magical and mystical phenomenon has been mesmerising generations of locals and visitors, and a Northern Lights chase by bus from Alta will allow you to experience it for yourself!

On the day of your Northern Lights chase from Alta, you'll have the chance to be picked up by your Finnmark Adventure instructor in Alta. Your instructor will introduce themselves and give you a breakdown of the itinerary for the night, as well as a few safety recommendations to avoid any mishaps while out in the stunning Arctic landscapes near Alta. Once you're comfortably seated, it's time to go!

Your instructor will drive you ride along some of the most beautiful Arctic landscapes in northern Norway, searching for the perfect place to observe the Northern Lights. You'll make different stops in strategic places, and your instructor will tell you all they can about the region's culture and nature. Now, keep in mind that the Aurora Borealis is a natural phenomenon that can't be controlled, so even if your instructors take you to usual sighting spots, it is possible that you won't be able to see it.

Keep in mind that this wonderful 3-hour Northern Lights chase by bus from Alta will take place during the Nordic winter, when Arctic temperatures can be as low as -30 degrees Celsius. You should come prepared with good winter gear to keep you safe and warm throughout the experience. Wool or thermal underlayers and wind and waterproof outerwear are recommended, as well as waterproof gloves, a scarf, a hat, and anything else you might need (extra layers, medication, etc.) to spend a safe and fun time out in the Arctic Norwegian landscapes.

Embark on a spectacular adventure to witness the planet's most amazing light show. Book your Northern Lights bus tour from Alta today!
