Activity description
Experience a unique way of transport in Northern Norway – a daytime dog sledding adventure through a snowy terrain, surrounded by arctic mountain landscape and scenic fjords. For the evening dog sledding adventure through snowy terrain, surrounded by arctic mountain landscape and scenic fjords. If you are lucky, you will have the magical Northern Lights sky dancing above, while our team of huskies takes you on a journey into the wilderness.
You do not need any previous skills to mush your own husky team. All you need is reasonable physical health and an eagerness to try something new. For this tour, you will be picked up from the city center of Tromsø, from which you will be taken to our wilderness center in Camp Tamok (approx. ~90min drive). Upon arrival at the camp, you will be provided with warm winter clothing and given thorough safety instructions and a practical demonstration from our lovely English-speaking guides. Once you are ready, you will embark on your journey. Two people will share each sled and a dog team. One is the “musher” (driver) and the other can sit back and enjoy the ride. If your group includes children, please kindly note, that each child must be accompanied by an adult. You can switch places midway during the 12 km dog sledding trail. Depending on snow conditions, we will spend approx. 1 hr 30 min to complete the dog sledding route.
After the dog sledding adventure, you will be served a hot meal in a traditional Northern Norwegian setting around the open fire in a reindeer herder’s tent. After relaxing and warming up, you can board the bus back to the city and reflect on a memorable adventure.
