Naxos: What to do when you get there ?

The biggest island in Cyclades, in the Aegean sea, awaits for you to discover it. Blue sea and sandy beaches on the shores of green mountains - a paradise in the middle of the Aegean sea in Greece. Naxos is famous for its mountain, for the beaches but also for the agriculture and the delicious products that grow under the sun all year round.

The main city of the island is the port of Naxos where you can find plenty of stuff to do from shopping in the cosmopolitan white shops, or eating in local tavernas. The city is quite vivid and it is easy to move around if you are staying in the city. You can also see the temple of Apollon while approaching the island and the Venetian Castle.

There are many traditional villages worth visiting from the other side of the island, like Apiranthos, Filoti, Moutsouna and Apollonas. The best beaches to visit are Agios Georgios, Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna, Plaka, Mikri Vigla, Panormos, Psili ammos and Kalandos.

You can arrive to Naxos by boat from Athens, Pireaus port. There are daily schedules and it takes from 3 to 8 hours depending on the type of the ship.

There are many sports to practice in Naxos. From Kitesurfing and Windsurfing to the wide beaches, to scuba diving, hiking in the mountain and cycling.

We did a beginner's surf course. I was quite surprised about how much we learned in only 4 lessons. Officially lessons were 1 hour, but they always started late and often ended early, which didn’t seem very fair. But still amazing how much you can learn in a short time.

We're complete beginners and couldn't have found a better place to kick off our kite surfing journey than in Naxos, Greece. 100% recommend

All equipment and wetsuit were provided, and the lesson was a great balance of intro instruction and facilitated action.
