Tarifa: The Must-Do Activities

Tarifa: What to do when you get there?

Known as the “City of the Wind” Tarifa is the most popular European spot for wind sports. The coastal city is located in Cadiz and is a place like no other. It is the only area in Spain where the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea meet, creating the Strait of Gibraltar. Also, you can contemplate the outstanding panoramic views of Tangiers, Morocco, which is only a 35 minute ferry trip away!

All year round the winds in the beaches of Tarifa have an average speed of 45km/h, giving kitesurfers and windsurfers the perfect conditions to reach up to 80km/h whilst riding.

Wave lovers can head to the Spanish beaches from June to September to catch waves that go from 1m to 5m high. You can enjoy surfing or try out the brand new sport: surf skiing.

April to October nature enthusiast and scuba divers travel across the world to the Strait of Gibraltar to watch the cetacean species that pass through (orcas, different types of whales & dolphins) and unveil the profound mysteries of Tarifa waters.

Regardless of the sport you want to practice, you have a vast diversity of beaches to choose from. All of them are no more than 10m away from each other, besides they’re completely different temperatures, colours, wave & air conditions and even sand type!

Windsurf may appear old compared to kitesurf but it's actually a great starting point to gather navigation experience with less danger.
