Here, the landscape stretches from the banks of the Kemijoki River to the rolling hills of Ounasvaara, offering a striking blend of dense pine forests, open fells and winding gravel tracks. The light in this northern region shifts dramatically with the seasons, from the golden glow of the midnight sun in summer to the crisp, blue-tinged daylight of autumn. This ever-changing atmosphere, combined with the invigorating Arctic air and the subtle scent of resin and moss, creates a setting that is both energising and deeply immersive. Rovaniemi’s outdoor culture is rooted in respect for nature and a passion for adventure, making it an ideal place to experience the thrill of off-road exploration.

Embarking on a quad biking or buggy tour in Rovaniemi is an invitation to discover Lapland’s untamed beauty from a unique perspective. Typical routes wind through ancient spruce woods, skirt the edges of tranquil lakes, and climb gentle ridges that reveal panoramic views over the surrounding wilderness. The terrain is varied, with sections of soft forest floor, gravel paths, and occasional muddy stretches that add a playful challenge. Tours range from short introductory rides to longer expeditions lasting several hours, each offering a balance between moments of high-octane acceleration and peaceful pauses to absorb the silence of the taiga. The hum of the engine contrasts with the quiet rustle of leaves and the distant call of birds, creating a dynamic interplay between action and serenity. Whether navigating narrow woodland trails or crossing sun-dappled clearings, every turn brings a new sensory detail—cool breezes, shifting shadows, and the earthy aroma of the northern forest.

Local guides in Rovaniemi are seasoned professionals, deeply familiar with both the technical demands of quad biking and the nuances of Lapland’s environment. Safety is a priority, with comprehensive briefings, high-quality helmets, gloves, and protective clothing provided for every participant. Many guides are fluent in English and share insights into local wildlife, geography, and traditions, enriching the experience with stories and practical advice. The day was so cool, if you want to ride a snowmobile this is the perfect plan and the monitors Miquel and Jonas are the best!
It was very funny. We had a laugh with the suits. You do not feel the cold of the water. Just don't really expect to see any northen lights so don't do it for that, do it for the floating experience. Aurora can only be a plus.
