Canyoning in Durmitor National Park is a journey through a world of contrasts. Descending into narrow gorges, you’ll encounter smooth rock walls polished by centuries of rushing water, cool cascades echoing off stone, and the earthy scent of moss and pine. Typical routes, such as those in Nevidio Canyon, blend moments of quiet anticipation with bursts of adrenaline: sliding down natural chutes, abseiling beside waterfalls, and leaping into turquoise basins. The terrain varies from sunlit open stretches to shadowy corridors where the temperature drops and the sound of water intensifies. Most excursions last between three and six hours, offering a dynamic mix of technical challenges and serene pauses, all set against the backdrop of Durmitor’s untamed beauty.

A fun-packed few hours of jumping, swimming/sculling, and clambering through the stunning Nevidio Canyon. The equipment was all fine - grateful for the wetsuits as the water was apparently 5 degrees. There were options for some of the jumps - e.g. there was 4 options for the last jump - so you could stay within your own comfort zone. The guide took photos and short clips on a mobile phone.
