So deep, not even sunlight can reach the canyon floor, many expert mountaineers have tried - and failed to map Montenegro’s most infamous ravine. It wasn’t until 1965 that man first stepped foot in Nevidio, long scuppered by its labyrinth passages, knife edges escarpments and misleading dead ends. Considered the last frontier for curious adventurers, explore this rough jewel on the outskirts of Durmitor National Park – appreciating its unique beauty and unforgiving terrain.

This activity takes place in Nevidio Gorge on the outskirts of Durmitor National Park. This is the last conquered canyon in Europe. It is located 50 km from Žabljak in the direction towards Šavnik and Niksic.

Meet your instructor at the activity base for this canyoning trip in Nevidio Gorge. The final canyon to be conquered in Europe, it is defined by its bottleneck canals, raging waterfalls and vertical rock faces – making it a challenging yet fun experience for adventurous beginners. You don’t need any previous climbing experience to enjoy this 3km canyoning tour, but be prepared for some pretty extreme terrain as you explore! Hidden from view, Grabovine waterfall marks its entrance – where you will receive a short safety briefing and kit check with your instructor. Navigating the route with a guide, tackle waterfalls, whitewater slaloms, narrow channels and a gallery of impressive sculptures carved out by the pure power of the Komarnica river. The hardest challenge is the so-called Gate of Kamikazes – a section about 80 meters long and in some parts only 25 centimetres wide. After spending up to 4 hours in the shadow of this dramatic gorge, sunlight marks the end of the route as your climb out into the valley overlooking the Poscenje near Durmitor National Park –where your return transport will be waiting.

Conditions
This is considered a fun but challenging canyon for confident swimmers 12 years old and up. Open during the dry months of April – October, the canyon is closed after heavy rain. A 3000m long route, please allow for around 4 hours in the canyon.
