Sunrise Hike from Kamari to the Ancient Thera, Santorini

Santorini is a breathtaking island located in the southern Aegean Sea, part of the Cyclades archipelago in Greece. It is known for its stunning natural scenery, beautiful beaches, and historic sites. This hike takes you to Ancient Thera, an archaeological site in Santorini.

Your guide will meet you at the starting point in Kamari. After a quick introduction, you'll begin hiking up the spiralling route of Mesa Vouno Mountain at dawn towards Ancient Thera. The hike makes the most of the cool hours of the morning, the best conditions for walking uphill. You'll reach the Ancient Thera at an elevation of 356 m (400 yards).

Once at the top, you'll take a break to admire the views of the sun as it rises over the Aegean Sea, the ruins of the Ancient Thera at the forefront. Your guide will share stories about the history of this spot as you pursue your hike down the other side of Mesa Vouno Mountain, in the direction of the town of Perissa. Renowned for its Black Sand Beach and many restaurants and bars, Perissa is the perfect ending point for the hike. You can cool off from your walk with a relaxing swim at Perissa Beach.
