Laurentians: What to do when you get there ?

Discover what to do in the Laurentians and at Mont Tremblant! One of Quebec's most famous region, the Laurentians welcomes more than 3 million visitors every year! For this reason, Mont Tremblant has had to develop continuously to remain attractive. The solution has been to multiply the activities so that visitors never get bored!

At the very beginning, there was nothing but Mont Tremblant, surrounded by French settlements, no one had tried to touch this peak. After more than 200 years of living around the mountain, it was in 1872 that 5,000 settlers set out to settle Mont Tremblant. Soon after, Antoine Labelle, the explorer and priest who organized the climb, decided to divide the Tremblant region into 29 counties.

In 1937, Joe Ryan, a wealthy American explorer, decided to climb Mont Tremblant to its peak and became the first man to conquer the mountain. Once back in the village, he decided to create a ski resort with the same name as the mountain. This project was a success, and today Mont Tremblant is known throughout North America!

Located between Mont Tremblant National Park and the Papineau-Labelle Wildlife Reserve, the village benefits from numerous lakes, including the large Lac Tremblant, and streams. In the heart of the Laurentian region, Mont Tremblant offers an ideal setting for skiing with magical landscapes! Well served, the resort is only 1h30 drive from Montreal.

Very attached to its history and origins, the town of Mont Tremblant highlights its past in various museums. A colourful and original village, art is at the centre of the region's culture and is a source of local pride. But of course, we mustn't forget the Quebecois conviviality that will make you feel at home!

The Laurentians are an extremely attractive tourist destination, which has remained a favourite resort for many visitors. For this reason, tons of activities as unusual as fun have been created all around the mountain!

Mont Tremblant is popular in winter thanks to its many snow activities! Of course, the resort welcomes you on its 80km of slopes, perfect for skiing or snowboarding all day long. Still in the heights, go for a ride on the small trails or along the frozen lakes of the Laurentians during a magical dog sledding excursion worthy of the best American Christmas movies! Horseback riding lovers are also served with a horse-drawn carriage ride through the surrounding forests. A timeless experience! If you're looking for more thrills, discover the magnificent setting of Mont Tremblant on a snowmobile ride that will give you a thrill and amaze you with the fauna and flora of Quebec. To stay in touch with nature, climb the trees on a family tree climbing course that will delight young and old alike!

Do you want to climb on the ice? Then get out the ice axes and go for an introduction to ice climbing to discover an activity like no other! Take a ride in a helicopter. From up there, a sublime panorama of the Laurentians will unfold before your eyes! Finally, once the day is over, head to the Scandinavian hot tubs to rest after a day full of activities, in the heart of nature.

But Mont Tremblant and the Laurentians are not just about winter activities! For several years now, the town has decided to develop its tourism during the summer season. To do this, all kinds of activities have been created in the four corners of the region!

When the snow has melted, get back on a helicopter to see the dense forests and lakes of the Laurentians from the sky, an exceptional landscape worthy of a postcard! For more freedom, you can also go paragliding and combine the breathtaking view with unforgettable sensations.

Without snow or ice, the lakes and rivers are no longer frozen and offer new activities not to be missed. Take a rafting trip down the Rivière Rouge du Mont Tremblant. More original, you can also travel the Red River in a canoraft or cataraft, which are one-seat buoys that take the same shape as a canoe or catamaran. An activity that combines sensation and fun! Let's stay on the water but let's go on the lakes of the Laurentians during kayak or boat trips that will offer you a superb view of the surrounding forests and mountains. In the latter, you can do different Via Ferrata circuits and discover the mountainous landscapes of the region, or you can reach the village thanks to several zip lines that promise you 4 kilometres of descent at full speed!

Once back in town, enjoy sports activities such as golf, paintball, tennis and even go-karting on the Mont Tremblant race track!

The list of things to do in the Laurentians is long, but well worth the effort! So now that you know what to do, get ready and head to Mont Tremblant for an adventure!
