Ajaccio, the capital of southern Corsica, is more than a coastal city; it is a gateway to the island’s rugged interior, where mountain streams carve their way through dramatic ravines just a short drive from the city’s historic centre. The region’s unique geography, with the Prunelli and Gravona valleys unfolding inland and the peaks of Monte d’Oro and Monte Renoso rising in the distance, creates a natural playground for canyoning enthusiasts. Here, the wild beauty of Corsica is not just a backdrop but an active participant in every descent.

Practising canyoning near Ajaccio is a dynamic journey through a world sculpted by water and time. The terrain varies from narrow, shaded corridors to sunlit cascades, creating a rhythm of quiet contemplation and bursts of adrenaline. Most excursions last between three and five hours, with sections tailored to different skill levels, ensuring both beginners and experienced canyoners find their pace. The contrasts between tranquil emerald pools and the rush of whitewater create a sensory-rich experience, heightened by the chorus of cicadas and the ever-present scent of Corsican herbs.

We were with 4, after the flight of 2 we had to stop due to bad wheather conditions. But we could return the next day and got to fly again, all 4 of us! They really tried to give us the best time.

The trip was well organised. The meeting place was easy to find and we were looked after well. The boat was great and sped us to the Islands.Great to walk around and see the view from the lighthouse. Plenty of wine and some lovely corsican charcuterie and cheese. The sunset view was amazing. Just loved the whole trip.

We had a lot of fun, saw octopus, sea star, sea cucumber and all kinds of colorful fish. We were with two and one of us got sea sick the second half, but despite that it was still fun.
